Developments
In 2013 the sixth floor was completed to accommodate for 650 students currently attending the Academy. All children deserve to be taught in a safe and clean environment.
It has always been the aim of the Azad Choudhury Academy to build a centre for education which not only provides the best in education but also an environment the students and the local community can be proud of.
The Rotary Club International has been a great help and support to the Academy. They helped secure matching grants which has contributed towards the building works that are currently taking place.
The building development has also been supported by private donations and several fund raising events that take place throughout.
Education
The school employs 22 teachers who teach subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English Language, Bengali, Geography, History, Personal Development, Religious Studies and Physical Education. The students are regularly tested on their subjects. The Academy holds regular Parent's Evenings allowing the teachers, students and the parents to discuss the progress of the child. This is a common practice in most developed countries but such concepts are rare in Bangladesh, especially in Charity run and state schools. Such quality feedback is generally available in private schools catering to students from wealthy backgrounds exclusively.
Currently the Azad Choudhury Academy provides an education ranging from Kindergarten level to GCSE equivalent. With the development of the 5th and 6th floors more classes can be held. The aim of the academy is to eventually provide an education which will take the students directly to colleges and universities.

The Basics
The children at the ACA do not have much. Their school uniforms, which are the only decent clothing these children have; are provided by the school.
Educational tools like books, pens, paper etc are the most basic as the funds are currently not available to provide better teaching equipment.
A basic midday meal, which was provided in the 1st academic year had to be abandoned due to costs. These children do not recieve any food until they arrive back from school in the afternoon.
However, these boys and girls are most enthusiastic and proud to be able to go to school. There is no absenteeism and the self confidence developing in these children is heart warming.

Community Development
The Azad Chouhdury Academy funds projects within the local community, providing flood shelters, home improvements and clean free water access. These works directly benefit the local community where the children live. The aim is to not only provide a good education but to provide a safe environment for all the children to live and play in.
Donations have helped fund the building of a tubewell on the school grounds whcih are for the student's use. Many people in Bangladesh have little access to clean and safe drinking water. The Azad Choudhury Academy aims to provide free safe drinking water to all it's students.

Job Opportunities
The Azad Choudhury Academy provides jobs to members of the local community. This is Shilpi, a single mother of two children. She is a member of the Grounds Team and works full time to maintain a safe environment for all the students to study and play in.
In the rural areas job prospects are bleak. Dangerous manual labour and crime are the only options available to many. Shilpi's children are also pupils in the primary section. Through the Academy Shilpi and her children have a means to a better life.

Vocational Training
During 2012 - 2013 courses in textiles and carpentry were introduced.
The Azad Choudhury Academy is the first school in Bangladesh to provide vocational courses alongside academic subjects!
With your continued support the ACA aims to increase the range of vocational courses ranging from electronics, mechanical engineering, handicrafts and agriculture.
Together we can give these children a complete education that truly prepares them for the world and towards a brighter future.
